About the project

Halde Quarterly is an independent magazine about craft and the people who practise it. For its tenth anniversary, the editors filmed long conversations with the photographers, writers and makers who had shaped it.

The brief: turn thirty hours of interviews into a film that felt like reading the magazine, slow and full of small discoveries.

What we made: an eighteen-minute documentary built around the pauses rather than the answers. We graded it in black and white to match the magazine's portraits and let each voice run longer than felt comfortable.

Where it lives: at the anniversary screening in Stockholm, on the magazine's website and in a limited edition of the issue that tells the same story in print.
